New Titans S Jamal Adams out to prove he’s ‘still that guy’

Adams made a significant impact in the NFL after being drafted sixth overall by the New York Jets in 2017. By his third season, he had already earned two Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro honor.

However, following a prolonged contract dispute with the Jets, Adams was traded to the Seattle Seahawks before the 2020 season. Unfortunately, his time in Seattle didn’t meet expectations.

Injuries plagued Adams throughout his four years with the Seahawks. He never played more than 12 games in a season and managed only 10 games over the past two seasons due to a torn quad suffered early in 2022.

Recently, Adams signed a one-year contract with the Titans. He emphasized that his main focus is proving to himself that he can return to his previous form.

“I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder,” Adams said on The Official Titans Podcast. “For me, it’s about proving myself right, not proving others wrong. I want to show myself that I’m still that player. Whether others believe in me or not, what matters is that I believe in myself.”

In Tennessee, Adams joins a team eager to silence its critics. The Titans finished with a 6-11 record last season, marking their second consecutive losing campaign after three straight playoff appearances. Head coach Mike Vrabel was replaced by former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.

Titans veterans are scheduled to report for training camp on July 23.
