Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence ‘really excited’ for 2024 with ‘dynamic group of pass catchers’

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2024 season hinges on one critical factor: their final record.

After being favored to win their division last year only to falter down the stretch, Jacksonville no longer enjoys the luxury of optimism and must demonstrate that 2023 was not indicative of their future.

Trevor Lawrence remains hopeful, citing the team’s arsenal of weapons heading into 2024, including new additions Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr.

“We have a dynamic group of pass catchers,” Lawrence stated on NFL Network’s The Insiders. “It’s not just about receivers; tight ends are a big part of it too. Evan Engram had a strong year and is versatile with the ball and as a blocker. Brenton Strange, a young talent, is poised for a breakout. And then we’ve got Christian Kirk, Devin Duvernay, Brian Thomas Jr., and Gabe Davis, all of whom bring different strengths. We have a lot of young talent that can really perform.”

Jacksonville’s receiving corps is markedly improved from last season, partly due to their struggles when Christian Kirk was sidelined due to injury. Calvin Ridley has been replaced by Thomas, while Davis and Duvernay are expected to boost overall production significantly compared to last year.

The pressure also rests squarely on Lawrence’s shoulders. With his recent contract extension solidifying his role, he now needs to deliver results. After a season of near misses, Lawrence must prove that Jacksonville made a wise investment in him.

If successful, general manager Trent Baalke could be hailed as a genius. However, there’s plenty of work ahead, starting with the opening of training camp later this month for the Jaguars.
