Dion Dawkins says Josh Allen has barked ‘a lot more’ since Bills’ roster turnover: ‘Very, very verbal’

The Buffalo Bills saw significant changes this offseason, parting ways with several veterans including Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White, and others.

With these veteran departures, Buffalo faced a leadership vacuum that quarterback Josh Allen has stepped up to fill.

Left tackle Dion Dawkins noted on The Herd that with younger players now in key roles, especially on offense, Allen has become more assertive.

“Josh is someone who steps up when needed,” Dawkins said. “He’s been more vocal this offseason, especially during OTAs. Our team dynamic has shifted with younger players seeing success early, which can change things. Josh is doing exactly what’s needed.”

It’s logical that Allen would take on a more vocal leadership role given the influx of youth and new free-agent additions to Buffalo. Second-round rookie Keon Coleman is expected to play a significant role, while veterans like Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool, and Mack Hollins have joined as free agents. Among them, third-year wideout Khalil Shakir has the most experience in the system.

With the roster turnover, the Bills are relying even more on Allen in 2024, both on the field and as a vocal leader.
