Daniel Suárez to compete in NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race during Olympic Break

During the multi-week NASCAR Cup Series break for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Daniel Suárez will take the opportunity to race in the NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race on August 3-4, as announced on Tuesday.

Suárez, 32, who drives the No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, will compete at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, also known as Interlagos, in São Paulo, Brazil. This event marks Stage 5 of the 2024 NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race calendar, with the final event scheduled for November. The NASCAR Brasil Series was officially announced in November 2022, with its inaugural season starting in March 2023.

Suárez has had a strong 2024 Cup Series campaign, securing one win in a photo finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway, along with two top-five and three top-10 finishes. The 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has been a full-time Cup Series driver since 2017, achieving two wins, 20 top-five, and 62 top-10 finishes in 272 career starts. Notably, his 2022 win at Sonoma Raceway was historic, making him the first Mexican-born driver to win a Cup Series race. In June of this year, Suárez was officially sworn in as a United States citizen.

Suárez and the Cup Series are set to race next at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC, IMS Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App). The circuit will resume at Richmond Raceway on August 11 (6 p.m. ET, USA, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, NBC Sports App).
